The Swedish furniture design company Ikea is preparing to open its first store in Mexico by 2019.
An Ikea announcement seeking personnel so that it can start working in Guadalajara, Jalisco, affirms that the company plans to continue its growth in 2019 in the country.
“We have an office in Mexico City since April 2017 and we are determined to bring a little bit of Sweden to Mexico. IKEA Mexico is looking for a Communication and Interior Design Manager to lead, develop and inspire the team …, to increase the interest of many Mexicans in the home, “says the Ikea announcement.
The job requires an international relocation since it will be based in Guadalajara and includes regular national and international business trips.
“It should be able to start at the beginning of 2019,” says the announcement.
In October 2017, Mexico was within a list of markets that Ikea considered to enter within the next five years. Ikea entered India and Latvia that year.
Mexico, along with Chile, Colombia and Peru were the firm’s options for the case of the first store in the region, said Torbjorn Loof, Inter Ikea’s chief executive.
