Interjet announced that it has signed an interline collaboration agreement with the Emirates airline, as part of its strategy of alliances with foreign companies, which increases the possibility that Emirates will start operations in Mexico, with a flight from Dubai to Mexico City, and layover in Barcelona, scheduled for next November.
“This new alliance is an example of the strength that Interjet reflects not only in Mexico, but throughout the world. It is a pleasure to enter into a partnership with an airline such as Emirates, which cares, as we do, for offering the highest standards of service quality. It will be an honor to transport your travelers through our destinations operated with one of the most modern fleets, “said the director of the Mexican firm, José Luis Garza.
Sources of the sector affirmed that the airline of the United Arab Emirates had sought before a similar agreement with Aeromexico, before they were in conflict by the operation of the route Barcelona-Mexico.
The International Air Transport Association believes that an interline agreement allows one itinerary airline to offer transportation on the routes and connections of another, through distribution systems and travel agencies, so they are used by airlines to enhance the sale on routes and connections whose demand would not justify the operational cost of establishing a connection of its own.
