Heineken: Van Boxmeer will leave the company after 15 years

President and CEO of Heineken, Jean-François van Boxmeer, will leave the brewing company in June after 15 years in both positions, Van Boxmeer with be replaced by Dolf van den Brink, who is the current president of the company’s Asia-Pacific division, according to a statement revealed by the company.

Specifically, the company’s supervisory committee will propose changes to the company’s executive team during the next general meeting of shareholders, which will be held on April 23. However, to ensure an orderly transition, Van Boxmeer will maintain his responsibilities until June 1, when Van den Brink will take up his new positions.

Van Boxmeer joined Heineken in 1984. After occupying different positions of responsibility in several international divisions of the brewery, he was appointed advisor in 2001. Four years later, he was appointed president and CEO, positions he has held until today.

“It has been a great privilege and honor to lead Heineken and work with so many great people from all over the world for almost three decades. I think it is the right time to pass the leadership to the next generation,” said the chief executive of the manufacturer of beer.

On his side, Van den Brink entered Heineken in 1998 to work for their commercial management department. Since then, he held different positions of responsibility in the United States and Mexico, until he was appointed president of the Asia-Pacific region division.

“Van den Brink is the appropriate CEO for the company during the next phase of growth and development,” said the president of the firm’s supervisory committee, Jean-Marc Huët.
