Chinese truck manufacturer Jiefang sets sales record

FAW Jiefang Automotive, a subsidiary of China’s leading automaker FAW Group, sold a record number of 299,273 trucks in the first 11 months of 2018, the company said Tuesday.

The company has released several new models to the market this year, including the seventh generation of the classic heavy truck J7.

The firm set the goal of selling 350,000 vehicles in 2020 and 430,000 in 2023. The number is expected to reach 500,000 by 2025.

The performance of the company began to recover in recent years after sales fell due to problems in their services and some products. Back in 2017 they had already broke the previous record, with 291,000 cars.

Founded in 1953 and based in the northeastern province of Jilin, the state-owned FAW Group is considered the birthplace of China’s auto industry.

Since the first Jiefang truck left the assembly line in 1956, the brand has sold more than 6.6 million vehicles and has extended its presence to 80 countries and regions.
