Brazil approves US $135M financing to BHAirport for expansion of international airport

The National Economic and Social Development Bank (BNDES) approved financing of 508 million reais (US $135.3 million) for the BHAirport concessionaire to withdraw a bridge loan and finance expansion and modernization works at the Confins International Airport (MG).

The total term of the financing is 208 months, the equivalent to more than 17 years, and the credit granted by the BNDES corresponds to 52% of the total value of the project, of 983 million reais (US $ 261 million), the bank reported in a statement.

In 2015, BNDES advanced 406 million reais (US $ 108 million) to BHAirport through a bridge loan for investments at Confins Airport, whose capacity more than doubled to 22 million passengers per year as a result.

The works for the expansion and modernization of the airport should be carried out until December of this year. The concession regime was initiated in 2014 by Bhairport, which has among the shareholders Infraero, CCR and Zurich Airport International.
