Bimbo launches the first compostable packaging in Mexico

Grupo Bimbo announced the launch of the first compostable bread packaging in the country, which leaves no trace in the environment and can be thrown away with organic waste.

The packaging will be available for the Pan Bimbo Vital line from October 2019.

This is part of the Global Environmental Sustainability strategy to feed a better world, which includes initiatives to reduce the use of plastic in all the company’s processes, research and innovation for the use of less conventional materials, the use and development of recyclable, biodegradable and compostable materials.

Bimbo established a commitment towards 2025 in matters of waste that establishes that by that year 100% of its packaging will be recyclable, biodegradable and/or compostable.

Among these advances, 100% of the packaging of Grupo Bimbo in Mexico that can be biodegradable already are, this means that if they are not properly disposed in recycling systems or sanitary landfills, they reach a total biodegradation process before natural elements of the environment. This innovation has also been incorporated into the sticks of the Clown Palette.

In addition, Bimbo has reduced the size of its packaging by up to 25% and optimized its sizes.
