Apple announced three new phones, and the iPhone XS Max is the jewel in the crown

Several months of rumors and expectation have passed over Apple’s upcoming phones, but finally the company has launched its brand-new iPhones at its annual event from the Steve Jobs theater in its Cupertino, California headquarters. As had been speculated, Apple has introduced three new phones: let’s welcome the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and the more “economic” iPhone XR.

IPHONE XS AND XS MAX

Presented as “the most advanced iPhones of all time” these phones promise to take the vision of the future of the smartphone to a new level. The 5.8-inch iPhone Xs and the 6.5-inch iPhone Xs Max feature stunning Super Retina displays, a faster and better dual camera system that offers innovative photo and video features.

They also present the first 7-nanometer chip on a smartphone (the Bionic A12 chip from Neural Engine generation), faster Face ID, wider stereo sound, and a new gold finish, in addition to introducing Dual SIM for iPhones. The iPhone Xs and iPhone Xs Max will be available for pre-orders starting on Friday, September 14 and in stores starting Friday, September 21.

GETTING TO KNOW THE NEW IPHONE XS MAX

Design and screen

The iPhone Xs Max is based on the full-screen design of the iPhone X, and has the sharpest screens with the highest pixel density of any Apple device. With a size of 6.5 inches the Super Retina display with a custom OLED design supports Dolby Vision and HDR10 for better color accuracy. The iPhone Xs Max offers a contrast ratio with remarkable brightness and authentic blacks, while displaying 60 percent more dynamic range in HDR photos.

Unlike the Xs, the iPhone Xs Max offers a more immersive experience with more than 3 million pixels for videos, movies and games, becoming the phone with the largest screen ever seen on an iPhone, but keeping a phone the same size of the iPhone 8 Plus.

Aesthetically, it has a gold-colored stainless-steel band that joins the ‘silver’ and ‘space gray’ finishes. It has wider stereo speakers, which promise to create a more immersive sound stage. The front and rear glass design features the most durable glass that exists in a smartphone, with improved scratch resistance, while the back allows faster wireless charging.

If you are someone who drops your phone in the water, the iPhone Xs Max has a new level of resistance to IP68 dives of up to 2 meters for 30 minutes and will also protect you if you accidentally splash it with coffee, tea or soft drinks.

Specifications

The A12 Bionic designed by Apple, which according to the company is the smartest and most powerful chip of a smartphone, presents the first 7-nanometer chip that provides excellent performance in a more energy-efficient design.

It also has a fast storage driver that can hold up to 512 GB. All this opens up new experiences for games, photography, video editing and intensive graphic applications. Even with all this power, the iPhone Xs Max offers an hour and a half more than the iPhone X, between charges.

The next-generation Neural Engine is designed for advanced machine learning in everything from photography to augmented reality.

Dual camera system

The iPhone Xs continues to bring innovations to photography, with features such as advanced depth segmentation using the Neural Engine. It also has an intelligent HDR that creates photos with high dynamic range and great detail of the image, in addition to the bokeh effect in photos in Portrait mode, and dynamic depth of field that you can adjust in the photos application. This function was already available on other phones, so it was time for Apple to join the trend.

The 12 megapixel dual camera system features dual optical image stabilization, with a 2x optical zoom, while the new sensor is twice as fast. Apple says that Smart HDR creates photos with more reflections and shadow details, and that larger and deeper pixels improve image fidelity and performance in low light, which will benefit both photographs and videos.

Face ID

Face ID, the facial authentication system, is now even faster. The TrueDepth camera system uses precise depth detection technology that goes beyond the capabilities and safety of two-dimensional facial scanners, and allows users to unlock iPhone, use Apple Pay, gain access to secure applications and many more features just looking at your phone.

At the level of cutting-edge technologies, the iPhone Xs and the iPhone Xs Max introduce the Gigabit LTE class for even faster download speeds, and Dual SIM, through the use of a nano SIM and digital eSIM.

OS

Both the iPhone Xs and the iPhone Xs Max come with iOS 12, which introduces new AR experiences, helps rediscover and share photos, and makes communications more expressive and fun with the new Animoji and Memoji. The screen time function is maintained, which helps you take control of the time you spend interacting with your iOS devices. It also has Siri Shortcuts, which gives any application the ability to work with Siri, and the new privacy features help protect users from being tracked on the web.

Availability and price

The iPhone Xs and iPhone Xs Max will be available in models of 64 GB, 256 GB and 512 GB, with colors ‘space gray’, ‘silver’, and a new golden finish. The advertised price is $ 999 dollars and $ 1,099 dollars, respectively, and you can find them on Apple’s website and at the company’s stores. It will also be available through authorized Apple retailers and select telephone companies.

IPHONE XR

iPhone XR

Apple also announced the iPhone XR, integrating the revolutionary technologies of the iPhone XS in a full-screen glass and aluminum design, with what the company presented as “the most advanced LCD screen on a smartphone,” with a Liquid Retina display 6.1 inches and six different design colors.

The iPhone Xr brings the powerful A12 Bionic chip with the new generation of Neural Engine, the TrueDepth camera system, Face ID and an advanced camera system that creates professional style portraits using a single camera lens. The iPhone XR will be available to book in advance as of Friday, October 19, and in stores as of Friday, October 26.
