On Thursday, Amazon.com Inc reported a jump of 39% of its second quarter revenue thanks to an increase in online purchases and a greater demand for its services in the cloud.
The company said its net sales increased to US $ 52.89 billion from US $ 37.960 billion during the same three months of last year.
Net profit increased to US $ 2.53 billion, or US $ 5.07 per share, in the second quarter ended June 30, from US $ 197 million, or 40 cents per share, a year earlier.
The revenues of Amazon Web Services (AWS), the company’s cloud services business, rose around 49% to US $ 6.11 billion, surpassing analysts’ average forecast of US $ 6 billion, according to Reuters.
